Celebrate 9/11: An Orgy Of Glorifying The Dead And Revenge Seeking

by Jenifer

Some would say that this is in bad taste. Those who lost relatives in the events or the wars afterwards, I have true respect for and wish to give them my whole hearted condolences. But for the politicians and business men making money and corrupting our political system in the name of the dead, I wish you were the ones who had been in the towers. That would be a wonderful fantasy, all the corrupt politicians and their corporate bosses blown up in a fiery inferno. That is what I do believe the Al Qaeda operation was all about. Since they could not literally get all of them together in one place they would strike at the symbols of their power and get a few of them in the mean-time. Capital in the Twin Towers, War machine in the Pentagon, and Politicians in the Capital if they had made it.
This seems to be a rather drastic act, but for many of us who had wished for a revolution and the overthrow of capitalism, Al Qaeda was doing us a favor. Unfortunately most of the people working in those buildings were not captains of industry or corrupt warmongers, they were simply good people doing their jobs. Many, maybe all of them wished they could be somewhere else, enjoying their families, their hobbies, whatever, but instead they were feeding the machine that makes the capitalist system go.

Not many of us buy the government line about what happened. There is enough evidence that the 9/11 Commission report was flawed and rushed to give credibility to some of what the Truthers have to say. Certainly there is reason to believe that the whole truth was not told about the culpability of the US intelligence agencies. The CIA created Osama, they financed him when he was a so called freedom fighter for Afghanistan against the Soviet menace and in the end when he turned against his masters, and sought another way, Navy Seals killed him. That is little consolation to those who lost family members, but it certainly is one less pain the collective ass of the American Corporate entity.

For those of us who feel that capitalism has run its course and are ready for a new system of humane values, some form of social control of the wealth accumulated in the world and its distribution, this day has a bittersweet quality. For although we find the world desired by Al Qaeda to be one we would not want, mostly because of its treatment of women and its limits on the pleasures we are allowed, they did strike a blow against the empire. That cannot be denied. The wars have drained the economy and perhaps have been an underlying cause for the current economic malaise. That will be a subject for future historians. We are too close to the events to have perspective, and too many documents are being sequestered.

Many of us had hoped for a peaceful transition to socialism, communism, the Age of Aquarius, or the anarchist commune, or however it has been theorized, but Al Qaeda has shown us one thing for sure, that the Capitalist system with its war making machine is still quite capable of defending itself. There are plenty of people willing to line up to volunteer for the death machine if there is a signing bonus and a college education dangled over their heads. Just survive the carnage.

What I especially don’t like about this day is the hand-wringing and sanctimonious glorification of the people who were there and the people who came to help, while at the same time assistance to those who became ill and unable to work as a result of their participation are being begrudged aid by the rulers of the very system they were trying to save. Why people don’t realize that capitalism is a system that benefits the few at the cost of the many, is beyond me. Are they really foolish enough to buy that line that one day you too can be a captain of industry…..more likely one day you too will be saddled with debt and have to work two jobs to make ends meet. That is if you can find a job.

Let the dead bury the dead. We have a world that demands our attention, one that needs mending before it is made uninhabitable for our particular species. Mars is no place like home, so we had better make home a place we can live in the long run.
